“Life is a camera, Focus on what's important, Capture the good times, Develop the negatives,And if things don't go to plan, take another shot .”

Feeling lost in this world not knowing what you’re doing or where life is taking you kind of raises alarm bells for anyone. It can be a sign of lots of things. Everyone has dreams, ambitions and goals that they set and try and work their way to achieving them.

Having a vision in mind and then trying to achieve it can become a challenge. People grab opportunities while they can… me, on the other hand, I tend to hesitate in making that decision, and before I even made a decision, it’s too late. Growing up with the thought stuck in your mind that opportunities doesn’t come knocking on your door, if you want it, you have to show initiative and go get it!

My Uncle once told me that it doesn’t matter what part of the world you are in as there will always be a pot of gold waiting for you. I’m not on about the gold and silver, but gold as in opportunities waiting for you. There’s some element of truthness in that statement.

If only I had a time machine, and I could rewind 25 years of my life and be able to accomplish my dreams. I would have established my own business by now. Or maybe I would have become a successful careers woman.

Ok, let’s come back into the present, where the world is moving pretty fast, so much to do in so little time. So many options, so many different routes to take, but which one do you choose? Everyone is running around like a headless chicken. Family time has diminished; no one has time for anyone anymore. There’s a competition going on within your peers, and family, that who can achieve the highest position and earn respect. What a sad world we live in today.

Picture this scenario: your standing in a room of talented people, some of whom have become successive business people, others with academic achievements, and others who have done so well in their careers and there’s you amongst them all who well let’s say have talent, but its not enough for you to be associated with them. People slowly understand that you and they do not have much in common to talk about and then start to sway away from you.

The ugly reality is that you get less noticed, your value around people tend to become less worthy, the conversations tend to die down, you become worthless, and soon you become a ghost-like figure lurking around.

Then I wonder what’s the purpose of life when an individual gets judged by how others would like to perceive them as and not accept what you are and have. Everyones unique and different in their ways.. yes? Some have hidden talent, some are born with brains, and some have great family and friends support to help them get where they want to be. However, not many have all the above, and they are the ones who struggle to make their dreams come true.

An Author by the name of Robert Muchamore has just recently published his book called “Artic Zoo”. It’s about two teens who meet in a mental health unit and want to make a difference in a world where there are a lot more questions than answers. The story behind his book was that back in 2012 when he was forty years old; he was an author who had topped bestsellers list in six different countries. He just moved into his dream house and achieved most of his life goals, but felt so miserable that he tried to kill himself. He wound up, spending three months in a psychiatric hospital. He met his characters Georgia and Julius there, or at least troubled but brilliant teenagers who were very much like them. In group therapy, he listened to their stories of adult betrayal, crippling academic expectations and above all else, the way these young adults wanted to be good people but didn’t know-how.

When he left the hospital, he wanted to write about his experience and the people he met, but it took him five years to figure out how.

He mentioned in his interview that he only finished school with only having ‘A’ levels and went straight into employment. And he began writing from real life experiences.

In a nutshell, this to me shows that you don’t have to have brilliant academia in life, you can still achieve goals by finding other routes. Just don’t give up!
